A visible fabric edge sits outside the securing stitches. Pair the unfinished outline with a washed garment when an irregular surface is part of the design.

Layered fabric shapes

Overlapping cut shapes build a two-tone letter or a larger composition. The relationship between each layer becomes part of the artwork.

Tonal appliqué

Let the fabric surface and stitched outline carry the mark. Similar shades can give a quieter finish on a hoodie, crewneck or jacket.

04 / Develop the real piece

The detail is in
the sample.

Approve the appliqué on the intended garment and in its finished state. These are the decisions to settle together.

01

Artwork & scale

Supply dimensions for the whole graphic and its smallest shapes. Narrow gaps and tight corners may need simplifying before cutting and stitching.

02

Fabric pairing

Choose the base garment and appliqué fabric together. Compare stretch, weight and shrinkage so the decoration moves with the garment.

03

Edge & placement

Specify a covered or exposed edge and locate the artwork from a fixed garment point. Check seam crossings, backing and comfort on the reverse.

04

Wash & approval

Review the complete sample after the proposed finish. Agree colour, alignment, attachment and any intentional fray before approving bulk.

06 / Before we begin

Appliqué,
explained.

What is appliqué embroidery?

Appliqué uses cut fabric shapes attached to a garment with stitching, often with an embroidered outline. The fabric fills the larger area while the stitching defines and secures the edge. The material, border and garment are developed together.

Is appliqué the same as an embroidered patch?

An embroidered patch is made as a separate badge and then attached. Appliqué uses cut fabric as part of the design. The two can be combined, so send a close-up reference and specify the construction you want rather than relying on a label alone.

Which fabrics and garments can I use?

Hoodies, sweatshirts, jackets and pants are possible starting points. The appliqué fabric and base garment must work together: weight, stretch, shrinkage, surface texture and intended washing all affect the result. Final material combinations need sample review.

Can raw-edge appliqué be garment washed?

The wash can be part of the intended appearance, but it may change the edge, colour and shape. Confirm the decoration and wash sequence, then review a sample in its final finished state. Agree how much fray is acceptable and check attachment after the intended care process.

What affects the price and minimum order?

The garment, fabric sourcing, artwork size, number of separate shapes, layers, edge stitching, placements and finishing all affect the quote. Jiashun garment orders start at 50 pieces, with the final minimum confirmed for the product, fabric and customization. Send the quantity by style and colour for a project-specific quote.

What should I send to start a sample?

Send your artwork or reference, intended dimensions, garment type, fabric or weight preference, placement, colour direction and quantity. Add your delivery country and target date. A close-up helps explain the edge finish; sample pricing and timing are confirmed after reviewing the project.
